Winnipeg Jets Morning Papers | Illegal Curve Hockey
Note: The Jets had some players in action in Finland at the World Championship on Friday. Most was notable Pierre-Luc Dubois who was named player for the game for Team Canada as they defeated Germany and he finished with two goals and one assist.
Note II: The Moose and Admirals decided that facing each other 16 times, which was what last night’s game 4 of their playoff series totaled (when you add the 12 regular season meetings) wouldn’t be enough and that they should do it one more time. Manitoba got contributions across the board as they had seven different goal scorers (Barron, Polei, Jones, Heinola, Chisholm, Eyssimont & Johnson) in their 7-3 win over Milwaukee to force game 5 which will be played on Sunday at 2 PM here in Winnipeg which will be the 17th and final meeting between these two squads and determine the winner who will proceed to the Central Division Finals. We’ve got 8 tickets in the Illegal Curve Zone for giveaway so send me a DM if you wanna be entered into a draw for free tickets to go to the game!
Note III: The Ice picked up a big 6-3 win at the Ice Cave in game 5 of their second round series with the Warriors which sees them eliminate Moose Jaw with their 4-1 series win. They will now face their arch-rival Edmonton in the Eastern Conference Final.
Note IV: Be sure to join us on the Illegal Curve Hockey Show today at 9 AM on our YouTube channel and social media platforms. We will be joined by Sean Reynolds of Sportsnet and Adam Kimelman of NHL.com.
Sportsnet: Breaking down five key questions the Jets must answer this off-season. For Kenny these included: 1) Trotz mania / figure out who will be head coach. 2) Figure out what to do with Mark Scheifele. 3) Sign Pierre-Luc Dubois to a long-term deal. 4) Make room on the back end. 5) Bring back Eric Comrie.
The Athletic Winnipeg: Winnipeg Jets roster decisions: Who stays and who goes this offseason? (Paywall). As usual good insight from Murat as he breaks down the roster which includes an interesting nugget about Mark Scheifele’s status for next season.

The Rod Pedersen Show: Darren Dreger talks Winnipeg Jets coaching vacancy and Mark Scheifele. An interesting chat between the two guys from Saskatchewan. The hockey insider had a different position from what you read in Murat’s article about when it comes to 55 being with the Jets next season.
Illegal Curve: Moose put forth another complete team effort in 7-3 game 4 win. Last night was the second straight must-win contest for Manitoba and they’ve set themselves up with another on Sunday. Check out the recap and hear from Ville Heinola (1G 2A), Morgan Barron (1G 2A) and head coach Mark Morrison.
Winnipeg Sun: Moose force Game 5 with emphatic win over Admirals. Good thing they’ve had five wins streaks this season of at least three games (including once against these same Admirals) as they go for their third in a row on Sunday. Scott recaps the action.
